Who Seeks After God
I have a lot of friends who are in different seasons of waiting right now. It’s encouraged me to get back to writing here on this blog. I’ve spent a large portion of my life in the waiting place and want to keep sharing the encouragement I’ve gleaned from those moments.
One of my friends is in a season of waiting for healing. She is going through chemotherapy and is reading through the Psalms as part of her plan to focus on the Healer in this season. She has invited some of us to join with her, and yesterday’s reading was a strong reminder of God’s faithfulness in our own journey of waiting.
We built a house in 2018 from the ground up, so had the opportunity to do some things we’d never done before in the process. As part of our desire to build a godly foundation for our family, we wrote God’s Word on the “bones” of our home and invited some family members to do that same. Now, in 2018, we had very little actual hope of having a family, but were still clinging to the hope God had planted in our hearts. So, we chose one of the rooms to be the nursery, even though we still had been unable to conceive. My mother-in-law wrote a verse that had been meaningful to her as she raised her children on the studs of the nursery.
Yesterday, when reading this verse, I had a moment to reflect on where we are now versus when we built this house. We built in hope, not knowing if we’d ever hold a child in our arms. And now, we have a beautiful 3 year old who reminds us every day of God’s goodness. I pray that she is one that seeks God and that we show her what that looks like every day.
We took some time to pray for our friend and remember that God is still in the miracle business. This is what we can do in the waiting. We can encourage our friend and provide for physical needs, but most importantly, we go to the Throne Room of Heaven on her behalf.
What are you doing in the waiting? How do you encourage the hope that is in you? I’d love to hear about how you are walking until you see the Goodness of the Lord in the Land of the Living.
